Re-use, Re-use and Re-use

ABOUT

The project of Rosë du matin started in Berln just before Christmas of 2019.

Since a few years, I was getting more and more sensible on the ecological questions and i was trying to reduce my ecological print on the world. While Christmas was approaching, the question of “How to wrap the gifts” came. I knew i didn’t want to use paper and I heard about Furokishi.

Furokishi is a traditional Japanese technique to wrap object/gifts and carry them around. The material used for wrapping is fabric.

I thought it was perfect! The Fabric could be re-used by the receiver and will not be thrown away directly after opening the gift. The Fabric could be re-used by the receiver. I started searching for some Furokishi fabrics. That’s when i realised that buying wrapping fabric online or in a fabric shop was still not ecological enough.

I wanted to use cotton but producing cotton has a negative impact on the planet. It uses 10’000 litres of water to produce 1KG of cotton among other social and pesticides problems that the production of cotton generates.

As an alumni from a fashion design university, i myself had a lot of leftover fabrics.

Why not using ressources which are already there?

I decided to use these leftovers to create Furokishi fabrics and other products.

My products are ALL from leftovers fabrics mainly sourced in Berlin. Most of them are from natural fibres such as cotton, linen and silk but there are also some great leftover fabrics from the fashion industries. The sewing and dye is made in Berlin. I dye with indigo dye, which is a natural dye made from a variety of plants but mainly Indigofera tinctoria. Every work is handmade and unique.

The packaging is made from recycled cartons and the shipping packaging is completely plastic free. If you live in Berlin, I also propose a green shipping options.

My goal is to provide green option using resources which are already produced.

Don’t hesitate to contact me per email or through instagram if you have some ideas/comments/wishes, it helps me improve!
